2022 Hyundai Creta facelift partially unveiled, debut in Indonesia next month

The facelifted 2022 Hyundai Creta will make its global debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2021 (GIIAS) next month. The current second-gen Creta was launched in India in 2020 soon after its global reveal and a similar timeline can be expected for the reworked SUV.

2022 Hyundai Creta facelift details, styling

These teasers suggest that the updated Hyundai Creta will get a heavily revised front end. This should be heavily influenced by the new Hyundai Tucson already on sale abroad and feature some of the eye-catching styling elements from the new 'parametric dynamics' theme of that SUV. So expect the grille to be of a smoother shape but extending right to the edges of the SUV. The DRLs are also expected to be integrated into the grille while the LED headlamps are seen to be more richly detailed with a dark finish and in a vertical arrangement lower in the bumper. The bodywork is expected to remain largely unchanged although some sharper-looking alloy wheels and deeper-cut bumpers can be expected. At the rear, the split treatment of the current Creta seems to have been carried over but taillamps LED highlights get an inward extension to make for a more cohesive shape than earlier.

2022 Hyundai Creta facelift interiors, new features

The interiors of the facelifted 2022 Hyundai Creta haven't been seen but expect to see new materials and textures, a floating effect to the centre console and maybe a fully digital instrument cluster for the driver. There should be more features as well like a 360-degree camera, HUD and some level of ADAS functions etc.

2022 Hyundai Creta facelift engines, specifications

While electrified powertrains can be expected internationally, the India-spec version of the facelifted Creta should continue with its current range of engines. These are a 1.5-litre petrol with 115PS/144Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel motor with 115PS/250Nm and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with 140PS and 242Nm. There are three automatic options, aside from a 6-speed manual. There will be a CVT, a 6-speed auto and a 7-speed DCT. The CVT is paired to the N/A petrol, the diesel is available with the torque converter while the turbo-petrol can be had with the DCT. The Creta can be had in numerous variants, which you can read about here.

2022 Hyundai Creta facelift rivals, launch date, expected price

The facelifted Hyundai Creta can be expected to launch in India by mid-2022. This might seem like an early mid-cycle update but with the competition in this segment much more stiff now than when this generation first debuted, Hyundai will need its best-seller to be fully equipped to take on the larger or more feature-rich new rivals. The Hyundai Creta competes with the likes of the MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Mahindra XUV700. Prices for the current Creta start from Rs 10.16 lakh and go up to Rs 17.78 lakh. Expect the new version to come at a Rs 30,000 to 45,000 premium over this.
