2022 Honda Civic hatchback revealed globally
Honda has gone soft this time with the new-gen Civic but the hatchback retains its classic notchback silhouette with an aggressive rear design. The front design of the new Civic is inspired by the Accord and looks very subtle, unlike the earlier generation with bold styling. The grille has gone smaller with ports for the engine whereas the headlights are sleeker with LED DRLs. The tapering roofline lends the Civic Hatch a coupe stance and it swoops to the integrated lip spoiler. Being a hatchback, the Civic gets a rear wiper and the twin exhaust pipes are functional. The LED taillights are connected with a light bar running the width of the car, giving it a sportier appeal.
On the inside, the layout and equipment are similar to the sedan, but with a whit of sportiness. The optional 9.0-inch infotainment system offers both wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and comes paired with Bose sound system in the touring spec. The seamless AC vents are hidden inside the diamond-mesh finish running the width of the dash. The 10.2-inch driver's display is highly configurable and changes its layout regarding the driving modes. Honda has stiffened up the chassis of the Civic hatchback and improved the driving pleasure over the sedan. The suspension and steering are tuned for sporty driving that is further enhanced with the option of the short-throw stick shift.
2022 Honda Civic hatchback comes with two engine options - 2.0-litre DOHC i-VTEC and 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC. The 2.0-litre naturally aspirated motor churns out 158PS and 187 Nm of torque whereas the 1.5-litre turbocharged motor puts out 180PS and 240 Nm of torque. Both the engines are offered with standard CVT gearbox whereas Sport and Sport Touring trims can also be had with 6-speed manual gearbox. While the deliveries of the Civic hatchback will start in the coming months, Honda will launch the e:HEV and Type R models in 2022. Â
