2019 Hyundai Elantra to feature Bluelink Connected Technologies
Yesterday, we broke the news that the upcoming 2019 Hyundai Elantra with the updated design, will be available in a BSVI compliant petrol option only. Furthermore, we have got confirmation from those in the know that the updated 2019 Elantra will also feature the Hyundai Bluelink connected technologies similar to that the Hyundai Venue.
When we reviewed the Venue, we had reported that all future Hyundai models asking a premium price will boast of the Bluelink internet-enabled connected technologies, and now the Elantra will be the first in line to get it. Like the Venue, the Elantra too will use a Vodafone embedded SIM in the infotainment system. The touchscreen system is also the same 8-inch unit.
The Bluelink connected technologies feature safety, security and remotely controlled functions. The safety parameter includes the panic or crash notifications, and roadside assistance and SOS call buttons that are placed on the inside rearview mirror. The security functionality features tracking, immobilisation and notification in case of vehicle theft. Complementing that are other similar location-based services like live car tracking and geofencing. Since the tech uses the internet, it also enables remote control of the ignition, door locks, and peripherals like the horn and lights. And finally, the system communicates with the on-board diagnostics of the car to provide vehicle health and service notifications, along with speed, time-fencing and geofencing alerts to the user's smartphone. The Bluelink suite consists of 34 such technologies, of which 10 are India specific. Hyundai also claims the Elantra has a server-based voice assist that is tuned to understand most Indian accents.
Hyundai opened order books for the 2019 Elantra facelift earlier this week and the car is slated to launch on October 3, 2019.
