2014 Volkswagen Vento to be launched in India this month
Volkswagen which recently introduced the facelifted Polo in India has more launches up its sleeves this year. The new Polo GT TDI and TSI variants are now available in showrooms. The big news however is about Volkswagen introducing the same 1.5 TDI engine in the Vento. The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel makes 105PS of power and 250Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a 7-speed DSG as optional. There is an increasing demand for automatic diesel cars in the market and so far the Hyundai Verna is the only car in this segment to offer a diesel automatic option. This should definitely give Volkswagen a boost and of course several automatic takers more choice.
Volkswagen will launch the new Vento as early as possible this month, within the next couple of weeks to be more specific. Production of the old Vento has already stopped and we have on many occasions spotted the facelifted car testing. Expect a few cosmetic additions similar to what we saw in the new Polo which will make the Vento look fresher. These will be limited to new bumpers, refreshed headlamps and a new alloy wheel design. There will be more features inside the cabin. Expect the prices to be slightly higher than the outgoing car. A formal announcement from Volkswagen about the launch date is expected shortly
Volkswagen hasn't shared details of the Vento variant list yet, expect it to be leaked online soon now that we've given you this bit of news. We're still scouting for information on what the petrol/diesel manual/automatic configuration will be like. Currently the petrol Vento is available with a 1.2 TSI engine and a 7-speed DSG automatic. It is likely the Vento will continue with the 1.6 MPI motor and a manual transmission.
