Yamaha R15 crosses one-million-mark production milestone
The Yamaha R15 has crossed one million units of production milestone at the Surajpur plant. Of the one million units produced, over 90 per cent has been sold in India.
The Yamaha R15 is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, SOHC, four-valve, single-cylinder engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine pushes 18.4 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The bike has a ground clearance of 170 mm, a seat height of 815 mm, a fuel tank of 11-litres, a wheelbase of 1,325 mm, and it tips the scales at 141 kg.
The engine sits in a deltabox frame and the bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels that come shod with tubeless tyres. Suspension duties are done by USD forks upfront and a monoshock unit at the rear. Braking duties are done by a 282 mm rotor up front and a 220 mm rotor at the rear with dual-channel ABS.
Other mentions include all LED lighting, digital dash, side stand engine cut-off, Bluetooth tethering, traction control, unidirectional quickshifter, and two ride modes(Track and Road) to name a few.
