Mexican start-up automaker, Vehicles of Ultra High-performance and Lightweight (VUHL), has revealed their open-top supercar, the '05'. The car was shown, for the very first time, to selected audience at the Royal Automobile Club in London.

Created by brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, VUHL was backed by a number of blue-chip companies and the Mexican government. For supplies, research and development the company turned to Ford, MultiMatic and Michelin.

Most of the 05's details have been kept close to the chest until its public premier at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England to be held on July 11. This unveiling of its production guise was attended by the press, Chairman of the FIA Foundation Tim Keown and British motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss.

For the heart of the 05, VUHL knocked on Ford's door. The 05 is powered by Ford's 2-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The rig pumps out 285BHp of power and 420Nm of torque. The 05 can pull off a 0-100 in about 3.7 seconds.

"Orders are being taken now for delivery beginning in the spring of 2014. Pricing will start from USD 81950 (plus tax, plus shipping). There is a wide range of performance options available to allow the 05 to be upgraded to personal taste. Initial sales will be confined to the UK and North America (dealers are currently under appointment in both countries), but the intention is to make the car available in the other key European countries, China, Middle-East etc. in due course," said VUHL.
