The base models of Volkswagen's Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV now have a few additional features along with this, Volkswagen has also updated both models' powertrains to be E20 (20 percent ethanol) compliant and to satisfy the forthcoming Real Driving Emissions (RDE) standards.

The VW Taigun gains additional amenities including automatic headlights and coming home/leaving home lights in addition to updated engines. All models except the Comfortline get these new features.

Rear fog lamps, which were previously available exclusively on the highest-specified model of the Virtus, are now standard equipment on all types. Other than this, the Virtus retains its Comfortline, Highline, Topline, and GT Plus trim levels and receives no cosmetic updates.

The German automaker has modified the two models' powertrains to comply with the new emissions standards in advance of the impending RDE guidelines, which are scheduled to take effect on April 1. Both automobiles' turbo-petrol engines are now E20 compliant.

The 115 PS, 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and the 150PS, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine are the only available engine choices for the Taigun and Virtus. Depending on the engine, a 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque-converter automatic, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox are available as options.

With these features and BS6 Phase 2 updates, Volkswagen India has also announced a price hike of up to 2 per cent on its entire line-up.  The Taigun starts at Rs. 11.56 lakh and goes as high as Rs. 18.96 lakh, the Virtus presently has a starting price of Rs. 11.32 lakh and a maximum price of Rs. 18.32 lakh.
