Volkswagen Golf GTI launched for Rs 53 lakh

The Volkswagen Golf GTI has been launched for Rs 53 lakh and it come to India as a CBU, and with a price tag north of Rs 50 lakh, the new Golf GTI is the most expensive Volkswagen product in its portfolio.

The new Golf GTI can dash from 0-100 kmph in a claimed 5.9 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 kmph. And the courtesy for the aforementioned goes to the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that pushes 265 PS and 370 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. Braking duties are done by disc brakes up front and at the rear and it rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.

Noteworthy features include three zone climate control, rear AC vents, keyless start, panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, 30-colour ambient lighting, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital dash, a seven speaker audio system, and a wireless charging pad to name a few.

Exterior features include illuminated logo, exterior ambient lighting, X-shaped fog lamps, and twin chrome exhausts. The safety kit on the Volkswagen Golf GTI includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, front assist, a rear view camera and park distance control. All 250 CBU units of the first batch have been sold out within the first few days after the launch.

The company has stopped taking bookings on the official website and the deliveries are expected to commence in June at select dealerships across the country.
