Upcoming Motorcycle Launches - May '22

No doubt, things are really heating up out here in India at the moment. Still, here are some cool motorcycles that are going to send temperatures soaring with their respective launches this month.

Ducati Scrambler 800 Urban Motard

The Urban Motard is part of Ducati's 800cc Scrambler line-up for 2022 in India. The supermoto-styled bike will be powered by the same 73PS and 66Nm producing 803cc air-cooled twin-cylinder engine that powers the Scrambler Icon, Icon Dark and Nightshift models. The new bike rolls on 17-inch spoked wheels shod with sticky Pirelli Diablo Rosso III running shoes, and it has a high front fender, a flat seat, and side number plates. The bike will get all-LED lighting, among other features like cornering ABS, a digital LCD instrument cluster and a USB charging port under the seat. The Urban Motard will come with a two-tone Star White Silk and Ducati GP '19 Red livery with street-art style tank graphics.

Expected Price: Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom)

2022 KTM RC 390

KTM gave its RC range of supersport motorcycles a big update for the year 2022 and although the KTM RC 125 and the RC 200 are already available in India, the new-gen RC 390 is all set to finally join in on the fun out here. The bike will retain the same styling as the model that is sold abroad, so you'll get the single headlight with the revised fairing, a bigger windscreen up front and the new split-seat configuration. The motor 373cc is the same as the one in the outgoing model and will produce the same amount of power with a 1Nm bump up in torque. The best bits - the new trellis frame with a lighter sub-frame, and fully adjustable suspension. Yup, we think the RC 390 will get the adjustable suspension just as the smaller displacement bikes in the same series. So don't expect it to come cheap. We expect the bike to come with segment-first features like cornering traction control, and cornering ABS with SuperMoto mode.

2022 KTM 390 Adventure

The second orange beast coming our way is the updated 2022 390 Adventure. We've already seen reports of the bike having arrived at dealerships around the country, so its imminent launch is pretty much a no-brainer. The bike gets an adjustable traction control system, and better allow wheels. All good news, right? Hold on, the partially sad bit is we don't think KTM will offer with adjustable suspensionwith this bike like it does in markets abroad. And the main reason for that is down to pricing – which could possibly make heads turn the other way.

Expected Price:  Rs 3.4 lakh (ex-showroom)

2022 Triumph Tiger 1200

You could see the Tiger 660 Sport as a little cub that Triumph brought into India recently, but now the company is getting ready to roll out the big guns. The 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 gets a revamped design, a new platform, new 1,160cc, 3-cyl motor that makes 150PS and 130Nm. The 2022 Tiger 1200 is lighter than before, houses a good amount of equipment and makes more power than before too. When the bike was first showcased at the end of last year, Triumph made it quite clear that the new Tiger 1200 is looking to hunt some BMW 1250GS. So just going by the standards of the competition, this bike should really be fun. The new Tiger 1200 is expected to launch out here in two variants - the Rally and the GT - with multiple trim levels including the top-of-the-line Explorer bikes.
