The upcoming Hyundai i20 facelift has been spotted testing in India for the first time. The test mule was partially camouflaged. The brand has already unveiled i20 facelift for the international markets with subtle design updates. Hyundai launched the third generation i20 in India in November 2020. After almost three years of its launch, the premium hatchback will receive its first major mid-cycle facelift. We expect the India-bound facelift of Hyundai's Baleno rival is likely to feature similar changes and design as the international model.

Upcoming Hyundai i20 facelift: Exterior

As seen in the spy pictures, the i20 facelift spied in the country is fully covered at the front and back, hinting where the major changes could lie. The facelift is expected to bring new front and rear bumpers, tweaked grille, redesigned headlight and taillight clusters, and a new set of alloy wheels. Except that the overall silhouette and design of the hatchback will remain unchanged.

Upcoming Hyundai i20 facelift: Interior

The key changes on the inside could be in the form of new upholstery, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and more. However, the hatchback is expected to retain the 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluelink connected car features, and a seven-speaker Bose sound system.

Upcoming Hyundai i20 facelift: powertrain

With the latest BS6.2 update, Hyundai phased out the diesel engine of the on-sale i20. Hence, the i20 facelift is likely to be available with only two petrol engine options: 120PS/172Nm 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor and 83PS/115Nm 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, five-speed manual, and CVT automatic transmission could be carried forward.

Upcoming Hyundai i20 facelift: Prices and rivals

Currently, the prices of the i20 range between Rs 7.46 lakh and Rs 11.87 lakh (both ex-showroom). Having said that, expect the upcoming i20 facelift to attract a slightly higher premium. Once launched, the i20 facelift will continue to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz. Notably, the Baleno, Glanza and Altroz now also come with CNG versions.
