Ultraviolette Automotive has finally launched its much awaited high-performance electric motorcycle in two variants - the F77 Original which costs Rs 3.80 lakh (ex-showroom) and the F77 Recon which costs Rs 4.55 lakh. There is also a special limited edition model which can be had for Rs 5.50lakh, but you'll have to really hop to it because just 77 of them will be available. The company just launched the F77 electric in Bengaluru as of now, and soon plans to do so in a phased manner across the country. The F77 is the most powerful electric-motorcycle that's currently made and sold in India.

We previously had gotten our hands on the F77 back in 2019, and even rode the bike out on track, but there have been substantial changes made to the bike since that time. The Ultraviolette F77 sports a very futuristic and racy design. There are in fact no bolts or rivets to be seen across the body of the F77, which shows an insane amount of attention to detail. The updated production model gets an improved thermal management and a denser battery with passive cooling. Ultraviolette has also tweaked the bike's chassis to be stiffer than before. Also the motor mounts and even the bike's swingarm has been changed to accommodate the updated motor and battery setup.

As I mentioned before, there are essentially two versions of the F77 to choose from, the first of which is the F77 Original which comes with a SRB7 7.1kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The motor here produces 27kW (36PS) of peak power and 85Nm of torque. Range of this variant is a claimed 206km (IDC test). The second variant of the F77 is the Recon with its bigger SRB10 10.3kWh lithium-ion battery pack (making it the biggest battery pack on an electric motorcycle in our country, to date). The motor on this version of the bike makes 29kW (38.8PS) of max power and 95Nm of torque, while extending the range to 307km (IDC test) on a single charge.

There will also be a special edition F77, of which just 77 units (limited) will be produced. This bike will come with all the top-specs including the bigger battery pack with a slightly higher power output of 30kW (40.5PS) and 100Nm, an aero disc rear wheel, lever guards as standard in addition to the unique grey and yellow paint scheme. The company claim that this bike can get from 0-100kmph in 7.8secs which means that it won't beat a KTM 390Duke to a ton but it's still quite rapid.

Keeping to the aeronautical theme of things, the F77 will be offered in three colourways: Airstrike, Shadow and Laser. The bike is powered by a direct drive train motor which allows it to print from 0-60kmph in a mere 2.9 seconds. Awesome stuff! The bike will have three ride modes - Glide, Combat and Ballistic - with the top speed capped off at a claimed 152kmph.

The left of the bar comprises a 5-way control pad to toggle through options on the 5-inch TFT dashboard, while the right hand side features arm/disarm and ride mode buttons. The F77 gets a couple of charging options as well – the standard charger which will give you 35km in one hour of charge, and you'll also have the option of a boost charger that will give you 75km with one hour of charge. The electric gets features like a 9-axis IMU, dual-channel ABS, multiple riding modes and regenerative braking; among others. The F77 Recon is suspended by a 41mm USD front fork and a monoshock with preload adjustability at both ends. The F77 Original doesn't get the adjustable front fork and comes with a 3 years or 30,000km battery and drivetrain warranty, while the more costly Recon gets a 5 years or 50,000km warranty. The 77 limited edition units will get a 8 years or 100,000km warranty on the battery and drivetrain.

In the first year, Ultraviolette only plans to produce 15,000 units of the F77. But, production will be upscaled to 1.20 lakh units over the due course of time. The company aims to commence deliveries of the F77 in Bengaluru by January 2023 followed by a couple of cities every quarter throughout 2023.
