Triumph will continue to power FIM Moto2 until 2024

Triumph Motorcycles will continue to supply its world-record-breaking 765cc triple engines as the FIM Moto2 World Championship's Exclusive Engine Supplier.

Triumph Motorcycles has been providing race-tuned 765cc triples to all of the teams since the start of the 2019 season, each of which is based on the class-leading Street Triple RS engine. It now has improvements that let it breathe more freely, rev higher, and produce more than 140PS of peak power, an increase of over 17 percent on the production engine.

This 765cc triple provided a much-needed increase in power to the category, completely changing the performance and level of competition.

Following Dorna's goal of bringing the Moto2 series closer to MotoGP, the increased power and torque, along with a more modern electronics package, has given a more appropriate training and development ground, while also improving overall racing.

Moto2 graduates have taken podiums and victories in their debut seasons in the top MotoGP class in the last two years, with 2019 Moto2 World Champion Alex Marquez gaining a couple of second places in 2020 and championship challenger Brad Binder winning in both 2020 and Austria 2021. In 2020, Jorge Martin won his first Moto2 race, then a year later, he won his first MotoGPTM race and added two more podiums in 2021. These remarkable achievements demonstrate how Moto2 has evolved into Dorna's intended natural springboard for MotoGP.

Records have also plummeted across the board, redefining the category. There have been lap records set at 34 races since 2019, including records that have been broken and re-broken year after year, as well as the first-ever 300+kmph peak speed for a Moto2 bike. At Phillip Island, Australia, the record is 301.8 kmph.
