Triumph India opens bookings for all-new Scrambler 400X and Speed 400

Triumph Motorcycles recently revealed the new Scrambler 400X and Speed 400 and now Triumph India has opened its order books for the 400cc motorcycles ahead of their 5 July, 2023 launch. Both motorcycles feature a new 400cc engine, numerous electronics, and funky paint jobs. As a part of its partnership with Triumph, Bajaj Auto will produce the Scrambler 400X and Speed 400 the Pune facility in Maharashtra.

Triumph Scrambler 400X and Speed 400: Design and Colours

While the new Scrambler 400X has a somewhat scrambler-like design language with modern elements, the Speed 400 is a roadster motorcycle with the trending neo-retro design language. To differentiate both bikes, Triumph offers different exhaust systems, whereas the Scrambler 400X gets split seat and hand guards along with a pair of Metzeler Karoo Street tyres instead of Metzeler Sportec M9RR, which are fitted on the Speed 400.

The Scrambler 400X is available in a choice of three distinctive paint options, such as Carnival Red with Phantom Black, Phantom Black with Silver Ice colours, and Matt Khaki Green with Fusion White. On the other hand, the Speed 400 is offered with three shades, namely, Caspian Blue, Phantom Black, and Carnival Red.

Triumph Scrambler 400X and Speed 400: Specifications

Although Triumph's Scrambler 400X and Speed 400 feature neo-retro look, both motorcycles boasts various advanced electronics, such as all-LED lights, traction control, ride-by-wire, and dual-channel ABS. Also on offer a new semi-digital instrument cluster. This console comprises an analogue speedometer paired with an LCD screen that displays tachometer, gear position indicator, fuel range readout, and more.

Further, the motorcycles come with 43mm upside down front forks and a rear mono-shock with preload adjustability. While the duo has a 230mm single disc brake at the rear, the front brakes on the Scrambler 400X is equipped with a four-piston calliper 320mm single disc brake, whereas the Speed 400 gets a 300mm single disc with four-piston calliper.

Triumph Scrambler 400X and Speed 400: Powertrain

The new Scrambler 400X and Speed 400 are powered by a 398.15cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine that makes 40PS at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6500rpm. This motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Triumph Scrambler 400X And Speed 400: Prices and rivals

We expect Triumph to price the new Scrambler 400X and Speed 400 competitively around Rs 2.70-3.00 lakh but it could also go up to Rs 3.30 lakh. In terms of rivals, the Triumph 400X competes against the Royal Enfield Scram 411 and Yezdi Scrambler, while the Speed 400 takes on the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, KTM 390 Duke, and the upcoming Harley-Davidson X440.
