Tata Safari facelift interiors spied; new dashboard and updated tech

We've already taken a glimpse inside the interior of the facelifted Tata Safari, but these fresh unmasked spy images offer us the finest look at the changes yet. Tata Motors is gearing up for a busy end of the year, with six SUV releases scheduled in the next six months, including the upgraded Safari. As promised, the car receives a major design change that makes it appear far more premium and incorporates significantly more technology.

Tata Safari facelift: Interiors

The most noticeable difference is the redesigned 4-spoke steering wheel, which has a display-like screen from the Curvv concept between the mounted controls on each side. We believe this display may show a variety of driving or trip data, or it may display the illuminated Tata emblem.

There's a new infotainment screen that appears to be somewhat larger than the 10.25-inch unit launched with the Red Dark Edition. We can also see the gloss black panel for the HVAC controls, which has two bands of haptic buttons and two toggle switches for temperature and blower settings, which is the same as what Tata showcased with the Curvv and Sierra EV concepts.

The bottom half of the dashboard has leatherette cushioning with contrast double-stitching, while the top portion has a full-width, coloured, gloss dashboard insert rather than the present model's faux wood-like trim. The central AC vents retain their trapezoidal appearance, but are now inverted and much sleeker, while a full-digital instrument cluster replaces the existing model's semi-digital one.

Tata Safari facelift: Powertrains and Features

The Safari will continue to be powered by a 170PS and 350 Nm torque 2-litre diesel engine mated with a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox, but Tata's new 1.5-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine which is currently under development may also be available as an option.

We anticipate that the new Safari makeover will have automated dual-zone climate control, cruise control, auto day/night IRVM, a 360-degree surround camera, Level 2 ADAS technology, and multi-colour ambient lighting. Other amenities carried over from the previous model include heated front seats, a motorized driver seat, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, keyless entry, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a start/stop button.

Tata Motors has a number of SUV releases planned for the forthcoming holiday season, with the Safari facelift joining the revamped Harrier in September 2023. With all of the stylistic changes and function improvements, the Tata Safari is anticipated to cost more than the current model, which starts at Rs 15.65 lakh.
