Tata Motors has set the stage for the launch of the updated Harrier and the flagship Safari tomorrow, on Tuesday, 17 October. The carmaker has already unveiled the SUVs and has also commenced bookings. The refreshed Safari and Harrier bring more than just a design update, such as additional features, improved ADAS, new variant names, and updated safety equipment. Additionally, the pair debuts several features, which are a first for Tata cars. Here is everything you need to know about the Safari and Harrier facelift.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelift: Exterior design and Interior

To begin with, the Safari and Harrier facelifts get a makeover, especially at the front and rear. Both the SUVs now come with a redesigned close-patterned grille, new front and rear bumpers, a light bar running across its width, new LED headlamps with cornering lights, reworked taillamps with a light strip, new 19-inch alloy wheels, and a range of new colours.

Inside, the revamped cabin features a new steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, touch-sensitive HVAC controls, a fully digital 10.25-inch driver's display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system (similar to the updated Nexon EV), a Range Rover style gear selector, multi colour ambient lighting, a 10-speaker JBL sound system, and rear window sunblinds.

Along with an additional speaker on the dashboard, Tata has also given the updated SUVs a knee airbag, taking the total airbags count to seven. There is also upgraded ADAS with 11 features, including adaptive cruise control, and powered/gesture-based boot opening. Other features include ventilated front and rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, powered front seats, a wireless phone charging, updated connected car tech with smartwatch connectivity, 360deg camera, ESP, hill hold and descent control, 45W Type-C port, front parking sensors, terrain modes, drive modes, and TPMS, among others.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelift: Powertrain

What has not changed is the 2-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed shift-by-wire automatic transmission. This motor makes 170PS and 350Nm of torque.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelift: Pricing and Rivals

Both the updated Safari and Harrier are likely to command a higher premium over their predecessors.
