Tata Nexon EV Max launched with 437 km range, prices start from Rs 17.74 lakh

Tata Motors has launched the Tata Nexon EV Max in India. The Nexon EV Max is the long-range version of the Nexon EV and prices start from Rs 17.74 lakh, going up to Rs 19.24 lakh. Along with a larger battery pack, the electric SUV also gets a more powerful motor, an improved battery management system and more creature comforts. Bookings for the Nexon EV Max are now open online and at Tata Motors dealerships.

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max range, battery, charging, specifications

The Tata Nexon EV Max gets a larger 40.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, up from the 30.2 kWh pack in the standard SUV. Consequently, the ARAI-certified range has gone up to 437 km. This is up from the 312 km of the smaller-battery variant and should lead to a real-world range of over 300 km. The Nexon EV Max also gets a more powerful motor making 143PS and 250 Nm, good for a 0 to 100 kmph time of under 9s while the top speed is now 140 kmph. Tata Motors says the Nexon EV Max has a 50:50 weight distribution.

The Nexon EV Max now gets a 7.6 kW AC charger as a Rs 50,000 option while it can DC fast charge in 56 mins from a 50 kW charger.

Tata Nexon EV Max new features, variants, safety

The Tata Nexon EV Max gets a redesigned centre console. The rotary gear selector is now illuminated in a blue backlight and finally includes a Park mode for the car. There is also an electronic parking brake and an auto-hold function. A significant change is the addition of two selectable regen modes.The Sport and Eco drive modes continue but get new switches beside the rotary gear controller.

There is also a wider range of connected car functions as well as ventilated seats, wireless charging, an auto inner mirror, cruise control and an air purifier. Further, a new intense teal dual-tone paint option has been added. The safety equipment has remained unchanged save for the addition of ESC, hill-hold and hill-descent control and well as all-around disc-brakes. Aside from this, features from the current top-spec Tata Nexon EV is carried over. The Nexon EV Max is being offered in the top XZ Plus and XZ Lux variants of the electric SUv and gets features like a 7-inch touchscreen, RS16 alloy wheels, sunroof, climate control, a semi-digital instrument cluster and LED lighting.

Tata Nexon EV Max prices, rivals

The 2022 Tata Nexon EV Max is priced at Rs 17.74 lakh onwards for the XZ Plus variant and Rs 18.74 lakh onwards for the XZ Lux version. AN extra Rs 50,000 for each variant nets the faster AC charger. The Tata EV can be had with an 8 year/1.6 lakh km warranty and still undercuts rivals like the MG SZ EV.
