Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, an electric vehicle division of Tata Motors, has handed over its 50,000th electric vehicle, a Nexon EV, to its owner. The owner of the 50,000th is none other than N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Group. Notably, Tata Motors recently achieved a milestone of rolling out 50,000 units of its electric vehicles from the Pune facility in Maharashtra. Its electric vehicle range comprises Nexon EV Prime, Nexon EV Max, Tigor EV, and Tiago EV, along with the X-Pres T for fleet operators and businesses.

Launched on 28 September, 2022, the Tiago EV is available with a choice of two battery pack options: 19.2kWh and 24kWh which promises a driving range of 250km and 315km, respectively. The electric hatchback is offered with a 3.3kW or 7.2kW home wall box charger. In addition, it supports fast DC charging, which charges the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 57 minutes.

The Tiago EV features powered boot opening, cruise control, re-gen modes, smartwatch connectivity, an eight-speaker sound system, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leatherette upholstery for the seats, connected car features, and TPMS. The EV recently surpassed a milestone of over 20,000 bookings.

On the other hand, the brand also launched the updated Tigor EV in India with an extended range, new features, a new Magnetic Red colour, and revised variants. It gets artificial leather seat covers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto headlights and wipers, cruise control, 'ZConnect' connected car features with smartwatch connectivity, multi-mode regenerative braking, TPMS, and a tyre puncture repair kit.

Although the updated EV is powered by the same 26kWh battery pack, it now delivers an ARAI-certified range of 315km. It is linked to an electric motor that makes 74.7PS and 170Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, Tata is said to be developing a new electric vehicle (EV) based on the on sale Punch. The new Punch EV is likely to make its debut sometime later in 2023. While the powertrain details are unavailable at the moment, we expect it to get either a 26kWh battery pack or a bigger unit. The upcoming Punch EV could also offer similar features as its siblings.
