Suzuki's Concept EV Vision e Sky Debuts at JMS 2025
Suzuki debuted its new concept electric car, the Vision e-Sky, at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. This vehicle marks a significant shift for Suzuki as it moves deeper into the electric-vehicle (EV) era, especially in the compact city-car segment. The Vision e-Sky is described by Suzuki as a BEV minicar "just right for your life" that has been designed primarily for daily commuting, shopping trips, and short holiday drives. This directly puts it as an MG Comet competitor, the moment a production spec model is released.

Vision e-Sky Exterior
The concept is built to fit Japan's kei-car class footprint. At first look, the Vision e-Sky looks a lot like the Maruti S-Presso but a bit narrower and taller. It measures roughly 3,395 mm long × 1,475 mm wide × 1,625 mm tall. The design language follows Suzuki's theme of "Unique, Smart, Positive." The exterior includes chic LED lighting elements, C-shaped DRLs, flared fenders, clean surfaces, aero-style wheels and a two-tone roofline.

Vision e-Sky Interior
The previews show a minimalist, yet vibrant functional cabin with a floating centre console, split-type front seats, dual screens for instrument cluster and infotainment, and an upright, city-friendly seating position.

Range & purpose
Suzuki estimates a driving range of over 270 km for the Vision e-Sky, impressive for a compact city-focused EV. The numbers are promising, but what battery capacity and what structure it will take as it rolls out as a production vehicle for other global markets is still unknown. This concept is one piece of Suzuki's emerging mobility strategy, which includes alternative-fuel (FFV, CBG) and micro-mobility solutions. The e-Sky may set the tone for the company's compact EV future.

The Theme at JMS 2025: "By Your Side"
At the heart of Suzuki's display was the idea that mobility has to be personal, practical, and attuned to everyday life. The theme "By Your Side" underscores their ambition to be more than just a car manufacturer, rather, a partner in solutions for customers' mobility and infrastructure needs.

Vision for India?
The concept is aimed at commercialisation by fiscal year 2026. However, this concept is that of a Kei car that is to be released in Japan. But the underlying fact is that Suzuki is foraying steadfastly into the EV segment with a bold statement of a compact city commuter. India being one of the most promising markets for Suzuki and also for commuter cars, it is expected that a production spec model of this concept might arrive in India. Also, the tagline "just right" suggests its affordability factor, which is again a big plus for the Indian market. Now, when would that be? We will have to wait and watch.
