Suzuki Australia Pty. Ltd. has introduced the Jimny five-door in Australia as the Jimny XL. While the Jimny three-door is already on sale in the country, the five-door model will be imported to the continental island. Although the India-spec and Australia-spec Jimny five-door models are largely the same, the colours and safety features create a distinction between the two. Here we tell you the key differences between them. Meanwhile, Maruti recently launched the Jimny Thunder Edition in India. Priced from Rs 10.74 lakh (ex-showroom), this special edition Jimny five-door is cheaper by almost Rs 2 lakh than the standard version and is available for a limited period.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny five-door vs Suzuki Jimny XL: Design and Interior

The Jimny XL available in Australia looks identical to the India-spec model, however, it comes with two new colours, namely Jungle Green and Chiffon Ivory Metallic with Bluish Black Pearl. Other paint schemes, such as Sizzling Red, Arctic White, Bluish Black Pearl, and Granite Grey Metallic are similar to the shades offered in India. Not to mention, the Kinetic Yellow and Nexa Blue paints are not on offer with the Jimny XL. Unlike the India-spec Jimny five-door, the Jimny XL comes in a single variant.

On the inside, the dashboard layout, rotary dials for temperature control and other design bits are carried over to the Australia-spec Jimny XL from the Jimny five-door. It also gets the nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, analouge instrument cluster, automatic temperature control, connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and cruise control, among others.

What remains similar is ESC, ISOFIX anchor points, six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold control, and more.

Powering the Jimny XL is a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 102PS and 130Nm, which is marginally lower than the 105PS and 134Nm of the Jimny five-door. Transmission options for the both models include a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.
