Sunny is Nissan's 3,00,000th car exported from Ennore Port
Nissan India on Friday cleared its 3,00,000th car for export from Ennore Port. This milestone was achieved in the presence of Nissan India president Kenichiro Yomura, Ennore Port MD Baskarachar, Nissan India head of exports Hideki Maebashi and Nissan India GM (vehicle exports ) Atul Shahane. The 3,00,000th car was a Sunny.
Nissan started its export activities from the Ennore port in September 2010 and has been exporting their vehicles to around 100 countries including Africa, Middle East and Europe.
Nissan has now exported over 300,000 vehicles in last three years from the Ennore port
In 2008, Nissan had signed its first MoU with the port. In July 2013, the agreement was upgraded to include more parking space and priority handling of vehicle units inside the port. This agreement is valid for the next 10 years. Nissan also set up the manufacturing plant at Oragadam in 2008 with an investment of Rs 45oo crore over a period of 7 years.
"I congratulate our employees at Nissan India on reaching the 300,000 vehicle export milestone. We couldn't have achieved this milestone in such short period of time without their dedication and commitment. I would also like to thank the Ennore Port authorities for their supporting our export commitment. This milestone underscores our manufacturing capabilities at our world class facility here in Oragadam, near Chennai," said Yomura.
