Kia India has just launched the 2022 Kia EV6 and while the car doesn't face any sort of direct competition, in terms of pricing, it does fall in the same bracket as the also recently launched BMW i4. The 2 EVs are completely different in terms of physical appearance but serve very similar purposes as to help grow the emerging EV market in India. Let's take a look at how the Kia EV6 takes on the BMW i4.

Kia EV6 Vs BMW i4: Dimension And Design

The Kia EV6 is a hatchback and to be fair the more attractive one of the two cars, with its striking LED headlights and polarizing rear end. The BMW doesn't look bad in any aspect though. The BMW i4 is based on the firm's CLAR architecture which it also shares with the 4 Series Gran Coupe. THe BMW i4 sits on 17-inch alloys while the Kia EV6 has 19-inch alloy wheels.

In terms of space, the BMW i4 is nearly 100mm longer than the Kia, but the Kia does makeup ground in terms of width and height just by a few mm. The Kia also has a bigger boot space at 520 litres as compared to the 470 litres in the BMW.

The i4 is available in three colours: Black Sapphire, Skyscraper Grey and Mineral White while the EV6 GT Line will be available in four colours: Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl and Yacht Blue.

Kia EV6 Vs BMW i4: Battery And Range

The Kia EV6 is available in two trim levels: GT and GT-Line AWD. While the RWD version has a maximum output of 229PS and 350 Nm of torque and the AWD version has a maximum output of 347PS and a peak torque of 605 Nm. The Kia EV6 can sprint from zero to 100 kmph in only 5.2 seconds and has an electronically regulated top speed of 192 kmph. Both versions utilise the same 77.4kWh battery pack and the maximum range of the more efficient RWD model is pegged at 528km (WLTP)

An 83.9 kWh(80.7 kWh) battery pack powers the single-motor i4 eDrive40 and has a WLTP range of up to 590 km. The BMW i4 can charge at up to 205 kW DC which lets the i4 eDrive40 add 164 km in 10 minutes. The rear-motor i4 eDrive40 can do the same sprint in 5.7s and puts out 340PS and 430 Nm. The car uses a fifth-gen electric motor that optimises performance over a wider operating range for better high-speed performance.
