Spec comparison: Citroen C5 Aircross vs Jeep Compass vs Hyundai Tucson vs Toyota Fortuner vs Ford Endeavour

Simran Rastogi Updated: April 07, 2021, 08:45 PM IST

With the Citroen C5 Aircross being priced at the premium end of the segment, its competition comes in the form of the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson, as well as lower variants of popular full-size SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The Citroen is brand new for India, but its rivals have all been facelifted/refreshed within the year, with the exception of the Ford Endeavour which was refreshed in 2019 but has seen a new variant (the Endeavour Sport) added to the line-up in 2020. The facelifted VW Tiguan 5-seater will be another option when it's launched shortly. If your buying criteria isn't limited by size, with the Fortuner and Endeavour being significantly larger than the C5 Aircross, Compass and Tucson, those two also bring the added advantage of 7-seater flexibility.

Citroen C5 Aircross dimensions vs rivals

Of the 5-seater SUVs, the Citroen C5 Aircross is the largest, at 4,500mm length, on a 2,730mm long wheelbase. Against the Compass' 4,405mm length and 2,636mm long wheelbase it's especially apparent, though even the Tucson's 4,480mm length and 2,670mm long wheelbase are overshadowed by the C5 Aircross. The Fortuner, at 4,795mm in length, and on a 2,745mm long wheelbase nearly matches the Citroen in its wheelbase, and should give an idea of the space on offer in the smaller Citroen. The Endeavour is the largest, measuring in at 4,903mm in length, and 2,850mm in wheelbase.

Citroen C5 Aircross price vs rivals

Between the 5-seaters, the diesel-only, two-wheel drive Citroen C5 Aircross is the most expensive, by some margin priced between Rs 29.9-31.9 lakh. Moving up to the full-size 7-seater SUVs, the diesel automatic Ford Endeavour is priced between Rs 29.9-36.25 lakh, while the equivalent-drivetrain of the Toyota Fortuner carries a tag between Rs 35.2-38.3 lakh, again going from 2WD to 4WD variants at the top. The Compass, Tucson and Fortuner also offer the choice of petrol powertrains, and in the case of the Compass and Fortuner, manual transmissions are also available, further lowering the price of entry to the segment.
