Skoda showcases new design direction for the 2015 Fabia

Skoda has just released a sketch that reveals what the future version of the Fabia hatchback is going to look like. No other details have been revealed but based on the single sketch it's clear that Skoda is going for a more edgy design dominated by straight lines and strong creases in the body work. In profile it looks rather similar to a current Volkswagen Polo but there are some strong Skoda details in the design. The bonnet for example has the typical Skoda crease that ends in the logo. The grille and Octavia inspired headlamps are sharper and more in line with Skoda's current design theme. The lower part of the bumper seems rather similar to what we've seen on the current Polo while the side profile is dominated by a strong shoulder line. The rear windows end in a pinch, similar to a new Honda CR-V and it will be interesting to see if that design feature makes it to the production model. This is the only angle that Skoda has shown off for now so there's still no idea of what the rear end will look like.

Internationally Skoda will offer the new Fabia with a range of new age engine like the new 1.4-litre three cylinder diesel engine or the 1.0-litre petrol that resides in their compact Citigo. However we believe that when the car eventually comes to India it will feature the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that recently debuted in the Polo. No shame in that as it happens to be an enjoyably torquey, yet efficient engine. You can read about the new Polo here
