Skoda Auto to appoint Klaus Zellmer as new CEO as of July 1, 2022
Klaus Zellmer, who is now the Volkswagen brand Board member responsible for Sales, Marketing and After Sales, will become the next Chairman of the Board of Management of Skoda Auto on July 1, 2022.
Thomas Schäfer, the current CEO of Skoda Auto, will take over as Chairman of the Volkswagen brand's Board of Management on July 1, 2022, while also moving up to the Group Board of Management and becoming Head of the 'Volume' brand group. On July 1, 2022, Klaus Zellmer will be appointed as a new member of Skoda Auto's Board of Management, with the Board of Management electing him as their new Chairman, as required by Czech law.
Klaus Zellmer, a business administration graduate, began his professional career in 1997 as an assistant to a Porsche AG Member of the Board of Directors. He moved to Porsche France in 1999 to engage in sales network development before becoming Area Manager for North America. As project manager for the new Porsche factory in Leipzig, Germany, he oversaw the construction of the sales and marketing divisions in 2000.
Zellmer became Head of Marketing at Porsche Germany in 2007 after overseeing the Porsche plant's client centre. In 2010, he was promoted to the role of Chairman of the Board of Management. Zellmer became President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2015. Klaus Zellmer has been a member of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand's Board of Management responsible for Sales, Marketing, and After Sales since September 15, 2020.
