BMW turned 100 this year and as part of celebrations, sister company Rolls Royce displayed their idea of what their luxury cars might look like over the next century with the new Vision Next 100 concept car at the London Roundhouse. Codenamed 103EX, it is deemed as the manufacturer's first ever pure "Vision Vehicle".

Measuring 5.9m in length, the Rolls Royce Vision Next 100 is about the same length as the Phantom. Even though the design is highly futuristic, one can instantly recognise the car by the vertical Rolls Royce nose. The body work almost completely circumscribes the wheel, making an impression that the car is floating on air. While the front end is designed to look more royal, the rear end contradictingly features a sloping roof line and a squeezed rear end, giving it a sporty appeal.

Rolls Royce points out four key areas which they aim to address for the customers to have a better experience in the near future. The first being the Personal Vision strategy where the company plans to create a chassis of the future which will be hand built and powered by a zero-emissions powertrain. The manufacturer will enable customers to involve themselves more in the design, shape and size of their personal Rolls Royce vision.

The second area is termed as the Effortless Journey where the British carmaker plans to develop a virtual assistant and a chauffeur, represented in a digital Spirit of Ecstasy, appearing on the full-width transparent OLED display. It will learn the owner's preferences and then guide and advice them on journeys and point of interest. The Grand Sanctuary, being the third, promotes the idea of an interior which has been totally personalised. Buyers can choose from a variety of wood and silk designs which adds to the experience of having a sofa as the centrepiece along with a huge panoramic roof providing great all-round visibility. The fourth area where Rolls Royce plans to work is termed as the Grand Arrival. This department would feature Royce's signature rearward opening door with the roof lifting upwards including a virtual red carpet for occupants to walk on, while entering or exiting the concept.
