Raptee showcases its first electric bike at Tamil Nadu Investors Meet

EV startup Raptee Energy showcased its first electric motorcycle at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (TNGIM) held on 7 and 8 January, 2024. The event, inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, showcased the electric bike scheduled for an April 2024 launch. The EV features a high-voltage drivetrain and advanced technology.

Raptee's electric bike gets returns a claimed range of 150km on a full charge and provides a top speed of 135kmph. Interestingly, this two-wheeler EV can be charged in 45 minutes from zero to 80 per cent or gain a range of 40km in a 15-minute charge. Meanwhile, it can go from zero to 60kmph in 3.5 seconds.

It is to be noted that The Raptee electric bike uses a high-voltage powertrain, allowing it to be compatible with CCS2 charging standards. "Having built on a High Voltage power train, Raptee Motorcycles will be the only Two wheelers compatible with the fast-expanding CCS2 public charging infrastructure," said Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-founder, Raptee Energy.

Further, Raptee has already established its initial 4-acre plant in Chennai, with a proposed investment of Rs 85 crore. The factory has an R&D centre, which aims to produce up to 1 lakh units annually, serving as the startup's primary production hub for the next 24 months. For this, it plans to employ 470 individuals for manufacturing and design departments, including a dedicated battery pack assembly line.

That being said, TNGIM attracted prominent Tamil Nadu-based startups and global investors keen on investing in the state's tech and EV sector. With participants from 30 nations, the event offered glimpses of Tamil Nadu's infrastructure for industries, EV manufacturing, and microchip production. In fact, over the two-day Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet, the Tamil Nadu Government successfully secured an investment of Rs 6.6 lakh crore.
