Emphasis was laid upon coming up with 'greener' cars with low CO2 emission levels, and newer car models were rolled out in at attempt to refresh Lambo's cache of cars. He then received the "Global Leadership Award" in September 2012 from the Italo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in Chicago.

"It's a great honour to receive this award, particularly in the Company's 50th anniversary year. The 'Premio Internazionale BARSANTI e MATTEUCCI' is named in memory of Eugenio Barsanti and Felice Matteucci, inventors of the internal combustion engine.
