#ODRewind: Mahindra KUV100 review, 80 new vehicles to be unveiled at Auto Expo, Re Himalayan unveil dates announced, Ertiga and Ciaz SHVS exempt from odd-even rule

Mahindra KUV100:  Mahindra's much awaited KUV100 compact SUV finally broke cover last week. The Mahindra KUV100 comes with two engine options and in seven variants. ABS with EBD is standard across the range while dual airbags are an option right from the base trim. The all-new 3-cylinder family of engines has a petrol as well as diesel. Mahindra Gusto:  We all knew that Mahindra was ready with a bigger-engined Gusto and the company finally unveiled it on January 12. The new Mahindra Gusto's 125cc engine has been built with inputs from Peugeot Scooters and boasts 8.8PS/10Nm- at par with the others in its segment. It also carries forward the 110cc Gusto's features. You can read more about the scooter here

Auto Expo unveils:  The 2016 Auto Expo is expected to be the biggest ever in history. This time around, manufacturers are collectively expected to unveil 80 new vehicles. While there were eight halls in the previous edition, in 2016, there are only six halls but which cover 37,240 sqm. This is an improvement of more than 10,000sqm from the 2014. GoI is going to make dual airbags compulsory for all cars:  Rajnath Singh, the Union Home minister announced during the Road Safety Week 2016 that airbags will be made compulsory for all the cars sold in India. This decision comes after the huge safety concerns that the statistics point to-  more than five lakh road accidents and equal number of people injured or losing their lives. Ciaz and Ertiga SHVS exempt from odd-even rule:  Maruti's SHVS equipped Ciaz and Ertiga are exempt from New Delhi's odd-even policy. Both the cars fall under the hybrid category and as per the requirements of the policy, these vehicles are exempted. Maruti is expected to equip other cars in its range with this fuel saving technology. Read more here

RE Himalayan unveil:  Royal Enfield's much awaited Himalayan adventure tourer motorcycle will be unveiled to the public on February 2, 2016. The motorcycle is an all-new effort from RE- it has a dual cradle chassis, knobby pattern tyres, single cylinder 30PS/40Nm 410cc motor and the monoshock rear suspension. Know more here
