Datsun to launch redi-Go in India on June 1, 2016
Usually, every upcoming new car launch from Maruti makes the entire nation sit up and take notice. However, this time around it's an all-new Datsun hatchback that has got us as well as prospective buyers interested. The Datsun redi-Go is based on the same CMF-A platform that also underpins the Renault Kwid and sports styling similar to the concept car showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. JK Tyre acquire Cavendish Industries
JK Tyre and Industries Ltd have announced that they have completely acquired Cavendish Industries Ltd (CIL) at an enterprise value of Rs 2,200 crore. In an official release, JK Tyre has stated that it will fund the deal with a mix of debts and internal accruals. CIL has three tyre business undertakings of Birla Tyres and its plants are located at Laksar in Haridwar. Read about it here
2016 Pulsar Festival of Speed: Saad Gaibi takes the title
Saad Gaibi from Pune has won the first season of the Pulsar Festival of Speed that concluded at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai on April 16. Apart from winning the title, he has also bagged a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Jonathan Johnson from Hyderabad finished second while Yuvaraj S from Chennai finished third. Read about it here
MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo signs with Ducati for 2017 and 2018
Speculations have been rife since the start of the 2016 season on whether Jorge Lorenzo would continue to race for Movistar Yamaha. There were rumors that he could move on to Ducati for the 2017 season. Now, Ducati has issued a statement that the Spaniard will be riding for them in the 2017 and 2018 MotoGP seasons.
