Nissan has announced its decision to stop sale of its X-Trail SUV and 370Z coupe in the country. This decision has been taken, the company says, because it wants to focus solely on its locally manufactured models.

Nissan's locally manufactured lineup consists of Micra Active, Micra, Sunny, Evalia and Terrano models. All of these models are currently manufactured at Nissan's Oragadam plant in Chennai. Nissan recently slashed prices of its Indian lineup.

The X-Trail SUV is available at a starting price of Rs 22,75,316 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It has three variants - LE, SLX MT and  top of the line SLX AT. All the models are powered by a standard four-cylinder diesel engine producing 151PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual for the base/mid variant and a six-speed automatic for the top SLX trim. All in all, the X-Trail is a well rounded product but that has failed to translate into sales in India largely to the extra price tag that involves a CBU.

The 370Z, on the other hand, is available in two trims based on their transmissions – MT and AT. Price for the MT is Rs 55.5 lakh and the AT is Rs 56.5 lakh (both ex-showroom, Mumbai). The engine is the same 3.6-litre V6 for both variants producing 333PS of power and 363Nm of torque.

The decision to discotinue X-Trail and 370Z will make the Teana luxury sedan as Nissan's only CBU offering in India.
