The new generation 2021 Mahindra Thar has crossed the 50,000 booking mark within six months of it being launched in the country. The Thar was first unveiled on August 15, 2020 and saw its India launch on October 2. The 2021 Mahindra Thar has been an instant success, with Mahindra clocking 9,000 bookings within three days of the 4x4's launch.

Veejay Nakra, CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra's automotive division said of this development, "We are overwhelmed with this unprecedented response that the All-New Thar has garnered; it has, infact, surpassed all our expectations.  The wait for the All-New Thar has been longer than expected and we sincerely appreciate our customers' patience and unwavering confidence in us while we are working with our suppliers to ramp up production in these challenging times."

2021 Mahindra Thar waiting period

The Mahindra Thar is witnessing significantly long waiting periods as Mahindra ramps up production to meet the unprecedented demand, a situation worsened by the ongoing semiconductor shortages. The company has fast-tracked the increase in production capacity at its Nasik facility and is working to reduced supplier bottlenecks too.
