New-gen Skoda Kodiaq and Superb to debut later in 2023
In its recent annual press conference, Skoda officially confirmed the arrival of the new generation Superb and Kodiaq sometime later this year. The automaker also reaffirmed its plans to launch three all-new electric vehicles (EVs) by 2026, which are believed to be Elorq an entry-level EV positioned below Enyaq, a production-spec version of the Vision 7S Concept, and a compact SUV crossover.
New-gen Skoda Superb and Kodiaq: Powertrain
The upcoming 2024 Kodiaq and Superb will be predominantly combustion engine-powered. While the on-sale Superb offers a plug-in hybrid version (that was upgraded recently for 2023), the new Kodiaq will gain a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time.
Internationally, the current Kodiaq and Superb come powered by a variety of powertrain options, such as 1.5-litre petrol, 2.0-litre petrol, and 2.0-litre diesel. As mentioned, the Superb also gets a 1.4-litre TSI iV plug-in hybrid powertrain. We believe Skoda is likely to continue with these engine choices for the upcoming new-gen models. Moreover, the Kodiaq could get the same 1.4-litre PHEV powertrain as the Superb.
New-gen Skoda Superb and Kodiaq: Design and Interior
With the upcoming major update, the Superb will enter the fourth generation, whereas the Kodiaq will enter the second generation. Both models are expected to bear a fresh design but are likely to carry signature Skoda styling cues, such as the butterfly grille.
On the inside, the interiors of the new-gen Superb and Kodiaq will draw inspiration from the all-electric Enyaq. Hence, the saloon and SUV could get Enyaq's minimalist cabin design and the 13-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. Skoda may also offer a heads-up display with augmented reality.
New-gen Skoda Superb and Kodiaq: India launch
Since Skoda will unveil the all-new Superb and Kodiaq sometime later this year, it is expected to bring both models to India at the beginning of 2024. Currently, the on-sale Superb is powered by a 190PS 2.0-litre petrol engine available across Sportline and L&K trim levels. On the other hand, the Kodiaq is offered in three trims: Style, Sportline, and L&K. Notably, it also gets the same 190PS 2.0-litre petrol unit as the Superb.
