New Audi TT comes to India

German luxury car maker Audi has launched its entry-level sports coupe, the 2012 Audi TT in India. It will be available in dealerships from June and is priced at Rs 48.36 lakh, ex-Maharashtra. The TT will be brought in via the CBU route.

The new TT coupe comes a 2.0-litre TFSI engine which produces 214PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed S-tronic box. Audi claims a 0-100 time of 5.6 seconds and top speed of 250kmph. The TT comes standard with quattro all-wheel drive system. Extensive use of hybrid Audi Space Frame Technology has resulted in the body shell of the coupe to weigh just 206kg with a split between 66kg of steel and 140 of aluminium.

The interiors are swathed in high-gloss black plastics and aluminium accents. The leather seats claim to reduce thermal heating by as much as 20 degree Celsius when the carked is parked directly under the sun. Despite being a sport car, the TT has a driver information system which gives the driver real-time efficiency figures as also tips for efficient driving.

While we focus on the sportiness, at the same time we want to offer our customers the highly efficient and dynamic 2.0 TFSI engine. I am confident that the introduction of the Audi TT will further help us consolidate our leadership position in the sports car segment"

Audi aims to sell about 30 units of the TT coupe this year with the target set for 50 in 2013.
