New Aprilia RS 457 India launch at India Bike Week 2023

Aprilia has set the stage to unveil its much-anticipated RS 457, recently showcased at the inaugural Grand Prix of Bharat, during the forthcoming India Bike Week (IBW) 2023. The India's one of the largest motorcycling festival set to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year and will be held from 8 to 9 December in Vagator, Goa. That being said, a teaser of the new RS 457 has also emerged on social media via Aprilia India and IBW handles. Interestingly, Aprilia, a subsidiary of the Piaggio Group, will produce the RS 457 at the Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited plant in Maharashtra's Baramati facility.

Aprilia RS 457: Design

Design-wise, the RS 457 takes styling cues from its elder sibling, the RS 660, boasting a striking and sporty appearance. Its aggressive fascia features twin-pod LED headlamps, angular daytime running lights, sharp fairing cuts, a muscular fuel tank, underbelly exhaust, and a raised tail section.

Aprilia RS 457: Features and Specifications

The RS 457 is equipped with advanced features, such as LED lighting, a five-inch TFT colour display, backlit handlebar controls, dual-channel ABS, ride-by-wire, quickshifter, traction control, and three riding modes. In terms of hardware, it gets upside-down front forks with preload adjustability, a rear monoshock with preload adjustability, 320mm front disc with a radial-mounted four-piston calliper, and a 220mm rear disc.

Aprilia RS 457: Powertrain

The new RS 457 comes powered by a new 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder DOHC engine generating 47.58PS (35kW) at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm of torque at 6,700rpm. Additionally, it weighs 159kg dry (175kg wet).

Aprilia RS 457: Pricing and Rivals

Expected to compete with the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R3, the RS 457 is expected to be priced between Rs 4 to 6 lakh. Globally, it will rival the Kawasaki ZX-4RR and Honda CBR500R. On the other hand, Aprilia has highlighted the RS 457's A2 license compliance, catering to younger riders entering, which focuses regions, such as the UK, allowing riders aged 19 and above to operate motorcycles generating 47bhp (35kW).
