Mini Cooper SE Convertible debuts with only 999 units set to be manufactured
The all-new Cooper SE Convertible has been unveiled by Mini. Given that the Tesla Roadster won't be available for another couple of years, this makes it the first drop-top EV ever. The SE Convertible will primarily be sold in the European market and will only be produced in 999 units.
The general layout resembles that of the closed-top model. Nevertheless, the Cooper SE Convertible adds several distinctive features, including as a bronze finish for the door handles, side scuttles, and the front and rear lamp surrounds, which were formerly black on the Cooper SE. Moreover, a Piano Black colour is added to the brand emblem and model wordmark.
There are just two exterior colours available: White Silver and Enigmatic Black. On each of the cars, special lettering on the door sills and side scuttles a 1 of 999 letterings is visible.
The powertrain of the Convertible Mini is identical to that of the basic Cooper SE. The 187PS electric motor receives energy from the 32.6kWh battery pack. Although the WLTP-claimed range of the convertible is just 201 km, compared to the 270 km range claimed by Mini for the hardtop version, the convertible does sacrifice some performance for those top-off moments.
Also, the convertible clocks the sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.2 seconds while the hardtop avatar completes the task in 7.3 seconds.
The convertible MINI Cooper SE's interior features the same layout as the conventional fixed-top model, including yellow accents on the center console's toggle switches, gear lever, and dashboard. A multifunction steering wheel covered in Nappa leather and the dashboard's piano black surface are two more aesthetic elements.
The connected infotainment system, digital instrument panel, ambient lighting, head-up display, and adaptive cruise control with start/stop capabilities are just a few of the goodies that come standard on the MINI Cooper SE.
The Mini Cooper SE is priced at Rs 50.90 lakh in India.
