This is the new Mini Aceman, an all-electric subcompact SUV that effectively becomes the four-door electric Cooper in Mini's transitional portfolio. The high-riding sister of the Mini Cooper provides a more roomy cabin without surrendering the agility of the city dweller, all while leaving room for the bigger Countryman to stay relevant. The Aceman is based on a larger version of the architecture that supports the electric Cooper.

Mini Aceman EV: Powertrain

The Aceman will originally be available in two trim levels: E and SE. The E has an 184SP electric motor that produces 290Nm of torque. It accelerates the hatch to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds and to a peak speed of 160 kmph with a 42.5-kilowatt-hour battery. The battery of the Mini Aceman E achieves a range of 310 kilometres in the WLTP test cycle.

The more powerful Aceman SE features a 218PS and 330Nm motor, a 0-100 kmph time of 7.1 seconds, and a maximum speed of 170 kmph. It also has a bigger 54.2kWh battery with a range of 405 kilometers. The SE also supports 95-kW rapid charging, which can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. Both cars are available only in front-wheel drive configuration.

Mini Aceman EV: Design

The Mini Aceman's design blends the pleasant elements of the Cooper hatchback and the angular accents of the Countryman SUV. The LED daytime running lights and Matrix rear taillights switch between three settings and graphics. Flat door handles and retracted, bevelled back glass contribute to the crossover's aerodynamic shape, while matte-black sills provide a rougher look that is supplemented by underbody protection.

The Aceman measures 4,075 mm in length, 1,754 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height making it bigger than the Cooper but not quite as big as a Countryman. The Mini Aceman range has four trims: Essential, Classic, Favoured, and JCW, each with its own logo on the profile and alloy wheels ranging 17 to 19 inches.

Mini Aceman EV: Interior and Features

The Aceman makes clever use of materials, textures, and accent colours, making it appear both upmarket and far less cluttered than standard Minis. Inside, the car has a 9.5-inch diameter circular OLED display that runs MINI's Operating System 9, identical to the all-new MINI Cooper. It also has the brand's first fully functional voice assistant, which can be accessed by saying "Hey MINI!" Voice-controlled interaction is visualized on the circular OLED display through the animation of graphic elements, typography, and avatars.

The Aceman has twelve ultrasonic sensors and four Surround View cameras to enable the ADAS suite, which includes advanced features such as Driving Assistant Plus and Remote Parking. The Aceman seats five and has 300 litres of conventional load capacity. The 60/40 split-folding back seats may expand that to a spacious 1,005 litres.
