The beginning of exports from MG Motor India's state-of-the-art production plant in Halol, Gujarat, was announced today. As the first step in its development strategy for other South Asian countries, MG will begin exporting India's first Internet SUV, the MG Hector, to Nepal.

On 6 May, 2019, MG Motor India commenced commercial manufacturing in India, with the debut of its first vehicle, the MG Hector, in June 2019. Since its beginning, MG Hector has grown at a tremendous rate in India, becoming a member of nearly 72,500 Indian households.

Speaking on the commencement of exports, Rajeev Chaba, President, and Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, "MG Motor India is constantly progressing its operations, expanding the market reach, stakeholder base, and adding new customers and partners to the MG family. Taking this spirit forward, MG is geared up to expand its footprint across the other South Asian countries starting with Nepal. Hector has played a vital role in establishing our prowess in an Auto industry as dynamic and aggressive as the Indian Auto space, and we are looking forward to driving interest in Nepal with the launch of MG Hector."

Gender diversity and women empowerment, as per MG, are critical pillars in the company's basic concept as it expands its boundaries. Women presently make up 37 percent of MG's workforce, with the goal of reaching 50 percent in the near future. Paramount Motors Pvt. Ltd., MG's Nepal-based dealer partner, is also stated to be linked to help the gender diversity agenda.

The MG Hector is produced in Gujarat at the company's Halol factory. A 1.5-litre turbo petrol hybrid or non-hybrid engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine are available. All engines are connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine, on the other hand, is available with both a 6-speed DCT and a CVT. In India, the MG Hector costs between Rs 13.49 lakh to Rs 19.55 lakh ex-showroom.
