MG Motor India is getting ready for its first ever offering, the Hector SUV. While the automobile brand is creating all the necessary buzz for the Hector's launch, it has not released a new video showcasing its next offering the all-electric eZS SUV that will be launched later this year. MG Motor has also confirmed that the eZS SUV will be manufactured in India and will also be exported to international markets.

The MG EZS, as one of the first locally produced global EVs, will mark a new chapter in environment-friendly mobility in India. We are delighted to be one of the first carmakers to enter this space in India. aim to bring accessible electric motoring to the customers in India upon its introduction by the end of this year," said Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director, MG Motor India.

The MG eZS could be powered by a 52.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack, with a claimed 400km+ range. A full charge is said to take eight hours from a wall charger. This battery pack is already in use for other products, in the wide portfolio of parent company, SAIC. We're told that MG Motor India is targeting 75 per cent localisation or higher for their first product,to be built at the Halol plant which was taken over from GM India. The plant has a production capacity of 80,000 units, which is planned to be increased to 2,00,000 in the second phase of operations.

Presently, MG has made an investment of Rs 2,200 crores at its plant and has installed an all-new assembly line, a press shop, a body shop, a parts distribution centre, a testing track and a new state-of-the-art training facility in the plant within a span of 18 months. The plant also has a captive vendor park to facilitate localization for all MG vehicles. The MG Hector too will be offered with high level of localization which means we can expect the SUV to be priced aggressively against rivals in the country.
