MG Comet EV unveiling tomorrow; What to expect?
MG Motors India will be expanding their EV portfolio tomorrow, 19 April 2023 by introducing the MG Comet EV. The Comet will join the MG ZS EV in India and will take on the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3. The Comet is based on the globally acclaimed GSEV platform and is expected to be in the price range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
The MG Comet EV has a distinct and quirky design. It has a quadricycle-like design with upscale characteristics such as split headlights, LED elements across the width of the car, dazzling alloy wheels, a tall C-Pillar, and a dual-tone paint job. It's basically a two-door small EV that seats up to four people.
While MG has yet to disclose powertrain specifications, the India-bound Comet EV could carry the same battery packs as the Wuling Air EV, which offers 17.3kWh and 26.7kWh units with a claimed range of up to 200km and 300km. The power output for both battery packs is rated at 41PS.
The Comet EV features a single-piece panel that comprises a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. MG claims that this system offers a bunch of advanced features, intuitive controls, and seamless connectivity. Although MG has not confirmed yet, the Comet EV is also likely to boast Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and USB Type-C or Type-A fast charging ports.
In addition to the dual-screen display, the electric vehicle gets a circular steering wheel with round buttons to control the driver display, media, and other functions. Additionally, the dashboard houses conventional switches for the air conditioning. Moreover, the centre console of the India-spec MG Comet EV could get a circular drive selector and electronic parking brake.
Safety features include twin front airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear parking camera, and electronic stability control (ESC).
