Mercedes Benz has launched the Celebration Edition of its C-Class sedan in India carrying a price tag of Rs 39.16 lakh, ex-Mumbai. The launch took place in Mumbai. The Celebration Edition looks to 'celebrate' the brand's most successful car, that has gone on to sell 10 million units across the globe. This edition is based on the very popular C 220 CDI. The changes though are merely cosmetic.

The exteriors get an upgrade owing to the AMG kitting that includes the revised bumpers, side skirts, smoked lamps and new alloys. The kit not only gives the car a differentiation from the regular C-Class, but also gives it the C63 AMG kind of look. Another stand out is the 'Edition C' badging on the front fender. The alloys are 5-spoke 17inch.

On the inside, the car gets Alcantara and leather with blue stitching in contrast. The dashboard looks sportier with silver inserts rather than the wood detailing. There is also a full-colour LED display and navigation system is standard.

Mechanicals are absolutely unchanged. The C 220 CDI continues to be powered by the 2143cc engine that is good for 170PS of max power and 400Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

Considering that the car is a 'Celebration', Merc has made it special by limiting production to 500 units. This is the last of the special edition Mercedes C-Class cars in India and an all-new C-Class is expected to debut sometime later next year or in early 2015.
