Mercedes Benz India has officially launched the AMG S 63 E Performance in the country and the car comes with a price tag of Rs 3.30 crore (ex-showroom). This new S 63 is now the most powerful S-Class ever owing to its hybrid powertrain setup.

Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance: Powertrain

The AMG S 63 E Performance packs a 4-litre Bi-turbo V8 that is hand-built in Affalterbach. However, it is partnered with a true plug-in hybrid system, resulting in a total combined output of 813 PS and 1430 Nm. The 4Matic+ system (all-wheel drive) delivers a 0-100kmph speed of 3.3 seconds.

It is equipped with a nine-speed, multi-clutch transmission, while the electric motor receives a two-speed gearbox. Thanks to a 13.1kWh battery pack, the premium sedan can also go up to 33 kilometres on pure electric driving.

Additionally, the placement of the motor and battery is claimed to improve handling and weight distribution. There are seven driving modes, such as Electric, Comfort, Battery Hold, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, and Individual.

Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance: Design

The S 63 doesn't look like an ordinary S-Class and definitely screams AMG just from its looks. The S 63 receives the usual AMG-specific stylistic modifications over the standard S-Class. In terms of design, the S 63 E Performance features the new AMG-spec grille, a front bumper with wider air intakes and signature AMG quad-exhaust tips. The car comes with standard 20-inch AMG wheels but there is an option to upgrade to a set of 21-inches.

A Night exterior package is also available, which adds dark chrome or gloss black highlights, as well as a carbon fibre package, which adds carbon fibre trims to the front bumper, wing mirrors, side sills, and rear diffuser.

Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance: Interior and Edition 1

True to the S label, there are plenty of creature amenities on the interior, such as ambient lighting, a 12.8-inch MBUX infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and four-zone temperature control, Burmester 3D surround sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting and a suite of ADAS tech. While the interior layout will remain the same, it will have AMG-specific components such as a sportier steering wheel and AMG-specific graphics and menus.

The limited edition 'Edition1' model adds bits like a Manufaktur Alpine Grey paint job, 21-inch forged wheels, red brake callipers and an AMG fuel filler cap. The Night exterior pack comes standard with the Edition 1 model.
