Alongside the standard second-gen GLA, Mercedes-Benz India has also launched an AMG version of the new SUV. The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4Matic is priced at Rs 57.30 lakh and will be the third AMG to be locally manufactured at Mercedes' Chakan facility.

The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 is powered by the same 2.0-litre AMG-tuned turbo petrol as the A 35 and puts out a similar 306PS at 5,800 rpm and 400 Nm at 3,000-4,000 rpm. The GLA 35 can do 0 to 100 kmph in 5.1s and reach a limited 250 kmph top-speed. The motor pairs with a specially tuned AWD system and an 8-speed DCT. The 2021 GLA 35 also rides on a specific AMG-tuned suspension setup.

The AMG SUV is equipped with most of the features of the standard GLA launched along with it but further adds a 12-speaker Burmester sound system, Multibeam LED headlamps and a Keyless Go function. There are five colour options to chose from and the special Valencia Red option available on request at an additional fee.

The interiors of the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 are done up in an all-black theme with red contrast stitching, highlighted with suede and gloss black. There is a flat-bottomed AMG steering wheel too.  The exterior is differentiated by the Panamericana grille, new bumpers, 19-inch AMG wheels and different twin-exhaust arrangement at the rear.

Like the standard GLA, these prices are introductory and set to increase by Rs 1.5 lakh from July 2021. The GLA AMG gets the same 8-year engine and gearbox as well as a 3-year comprehensive warranty.
