McLaren 750S to be launched in India on January 12: What should you expect?
McLaren India is preparing to introduce the 750S supercar to the market as its latest product on January 12, 2024. The McLaren 750S is the true successor to the 720S and was launched internationally in April of 2023. Let's take a look at what this mean Brit is like on paper.
McLaren 750S: The Powertrain
The new 750S features a tweaked M480T 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 mill. To achieve improved power output and reduce weight, McLaren has made an array of changes in the engine, such as new dual fuel pumps, lighter pistons borrowed from the 765LT, higher-pressure turbochargers, and so on. Therefore, as its name suggests, the new 750S generates a staggering 750PS and 800Nm of torque. It is even more powerful than the legendary P1. Notably, McLaren has also tuned the seven-speed sequential automatic transmission with shorter final drive ratios.
As a result, the 750S can hit the 100kmph mark from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds, whereas it can achieve 0-200kmph in 7.3 seconds. Not to mention, the 750S needs less than 20 seconds to touch 300kmph. Good luck finding a road in India to hit such speeds without being fined.
McLaren 750S: Design and Interior
While the 750S is only around 30 percent new underneath when compared to its predecessor, it has slight modifications in appearance. To begin, it has a new lowered front bumper and extended front splitter, narrower "eye socket" air inlets, wider air inlets at the rear tire arches, and a reworked and longer rear deck, among other changes. It also has a longer and higher active rear wing.
The cockpit is upholstered with Alcantara. McLaren has also provided it with updated displays, Apple CarPlay as standard, and a new McLaren Control Launcher to save and retrieve numerous customized car settings via a switch. McLaren provides a plethora of colour, trim, and upholstery options, as well as several performance improvements, to further personalize the 750S.
McLaren 750S: Mechanicals and Electronics
The 750S not only retains the visual DNA of its predecessor but its weight has been reduced to 1277 kg, a 30 kg reduction from the 1389 kg 720S. Even the revised driver instrument cluster and lightweight windshield add 1.8kg and 1.6kg, respectively, to weight reductions. McLaren has designed a standard-fit centre exit exhaust - evocative of the P1 - using stainless steel to save 2.2kg over the 720S.
Further, it has a 6mm wider front track, a faster steering ratio with a new power-assistance pump, and new suspension geometry. On top of that, a new vehicle lift system raises the front of the 750S in just four seconds instead of 10 seconds in the 720S.
