Matter Aera launched in India; prices start at Rs 1.44 lakh
Ahmedabad-based electric vehicle (EV) maker Matter has launched the Aera electric motorcycle in India with prices starting at Rs 1,43,999 (ex-showroom, including FAME-II subsidy). It is available in four trim options: 4000, 5000, 5000+, and 6000+. However, Matter has revealed prices only for 5000 and 5000+ trims, while the 4000 and 6000+ variants will arrive later this year. Meanwhile, bookings for the Aera are scheduled to commence in April 2023.
Matter Aera: Design
The Aera features a traditional naked streetfighter design. It gets a sculpted tank, tank shrouds with integrated LED indicators, an ICE-inspired design of the electric motor, a step-up split seat, and angular grab rails. Additionally, the Aera gets a clip-on handlebar with somewhat forward-leaning ergonomics.
Matter Aera: Features
The brand has given the Aera a bunch of features, such as a seven-inch touchscreen instrument console, software over-the-air updates (OTA), all LED lighting, ABS, onboard EV charger, park assist, passive keyless entry, welcome lights, and smartphone connectivity, among others. The Area 5000+ variant also features lifestyle, care, and connected packages. Furthermore, it comes with disc brakes at the front and rear, telescopic front forks, dual-spring rear suspension, and alloy wheels.
Matter Aera: Range, Power output, and Charging
The unique electric powertrain is the highlight of the Matter Aera. It gets a liquid-cooled 5kWh battery pack and an electric motor that is paired with a four-speed Hypershift gearbox with variable throttle response and torque output. With this, the Aera promises a travel range between 125km and 150km. Moreover, this motor generates 10.5kW (14PS) and is claimed to deliver 520Nm of torque. The electric bike can be charged in a claimed five hours using a standard charger. Meanwhile, the Aera 6000 will be powered by a 6kWh battery pack enabling a longer range.
Matter Aera: Prices and Rivals
The Aera 5000 and 5000+ are priced at Rs 1,43,999 and Rs 1,53,999 (ex-showroom, including FAME-II subsidy). With this, the new Matter Aera takes on the Revolt 400, Tork Kratos, and Oben Rorr.
