Maserati enters Gen-4 era of ABB FIA Formula-E World Championship
Maserati announced their continued association with the Formula E World Championship as a manufacturer starting from Season 13 (2026/2027). This introduces them to the Gen 4 era till 2030 holding hands with Stellantis Motorsport.
Maserati will be celebrating 100 years of racing next year, and according to Santo Ficili, Maserati's CEO, this continued collaboration brings in multiple opportunities to develop technologies which can be brought from the track to the roads. They plan to continue to draw major developments from the races in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and apply them in their further innovations towards their electric fleet which currently hosts the Grecale Folgore SUV, the iconic GranTurismo Folgore and the GranCabrio Folgore convertible.
Maserati made its debut in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Season 9 (2023) with the Tipo Folgore single-seater. Starting with the upcoming Season 11, the cars will come packed with enhanced performance with "GEN3 EVO". Ahead of the major GEN4 update, the current generation delivers an output of up to 350 kW, four-wheel drive at full power and a recovery of up to 600 kW.
The latest car boasts a step change in performance, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.82s making it 36 percent faster than its predecessor. The GEN4 project aims to achieve an even higher level of performance with active four-wheel drive, delivering more action-packed racing in the most sustainable way possible.
Jeff Dodds, Chief Executive Officer, of Formula E, speaks of the bright future of Formula E and how it holds the potential of being competitive and relevant for the future of electric mobility and motorsport. Maserati now joins the club among other global OEMs like Nissan, Jaguar, Porsche and Lola.
