Maruti Suzuki has been dominating the Indian automobile market ever since we know and with the new Maruti Suzuki Swift now on the market, we expect them to conquer even more. The Swift does face some serious competition though and that to from one of its own siblings, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Confused as to which one should be your pick? Maruti Suzuki Swift vs Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Powertrain

The next-gen Swift comes powered by a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Z12E petrol engine producing 82PS and 112Nm of torque. This motor is coupled to a five-speed manual and an AMT.

The Baleno uses a more powerful 1.2-litre Dual Jet naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine, which produces 90PS and 113Nm. The front wheels of this vehicle receive power from the engine through a five-speed manual transmission and an AMT option.

The new Swift is bigger than the outgoing car with a length of 3,860 mm, width of 1,735 mm and height of 1,520 mm. Although the Swift is taller than the Baleno by 20mm, it's still 130mm smaller in length and 10mm narrower in width. Even the Baleno's wheelbase is longer at 2,520mm compared to the Swift's 2,450mm wheelbase. In terms of luggage capacity, the Swift has 265 litres of boot space and the Baleno has 318 litres of trunk room.

The 2024 Swift features LED projector headlights with integrated DRLs, LED fog lights, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and LED taillights. Inside, it has a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, keyless entry, rear air conditioning vents, rear parking camera and sensors, cruise control, hill hold assist, six airbags, and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).

The Baleno offers a bit more with 16-inch alloy wheels, a head-up display and a 360-degree camera.

The Swift is offered in five variants, namely LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ while the Baleno is offered in Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha variants. The base variant of the Swift is priced at Rs 6.49 lakh and the equivalent Baleno variant is priced at Rs 6.66 lakh. Move to the top variant and the Swift ZXi+ sits at Rs 9.49 lakh with the Baleno Alpha priced at Rs 9.88 lakh. All prices mentioned are Ex-showroom.
