Maruti Suzuki India has released its wholesale sales figures for May 2022, revealing that the business sold 161,413 units of domestic plus exports. When compared to 46,555 units sold in May 2021, the carmaker saw a solid increase of about 247 percent year on year.

With 170,395 units sold in April 2022, Maruti Suzuki had a 5 percent decrease in month-over-month sales. In May 2022, Maruti Suzuki sold 128,000 cars in India, while exports were 27,191 units.

Maruti recently petitioned the government to rethink making six airbags required on compact cars, despite the fact that sales are still recovering. The new standard, according to the business, would further limit the small vehicle market and may have an influence on future jobs in the auto industry. The market for entry-level hatchbacks is price sensitive, and it has already been under pressure for the past three years.

The growing cost of raw materials and other components has pushed up the price of most automobiles dramatically. Vehicles also underwent a substantial redesign in April 2020, when the BS6 emission standards were implemented, resulting in large price increases for all vehicles.

Maruti sold 67,947 units of the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR and Tour S in the A-Mini sector, with wholesales of 17,408 units of the Alto and S-Presso. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sold 586 units, while utility vehicle sales remained robust at 28,051 units, with the Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and XL6 accounting for the majority of the sales.
