Maruti Suzuki flags off Dakshin Dare 2013

Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday flagged-off the 5th edition of 'Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare' rally from Bangalore's Phoenix Mall. Over 147 petrol heads from across the country have come together to participate in this year's event. The rally will be a five-day round-trip of 2,000km, with the route going through dense forests, river beds, hill stations, wind mill farms, hair-pin bends, and tea and coffee plantations before ending in Bangalore on August 9.

There is also a 'Corporate' sub-category where winners of the Maruti Suzuki Corporate Treasure Hunt from across South India have earned free entry. For the first time ever, there is a 'Scooter' category for 2-wheelers, and reputed manufacturers, racing teams and drivers from across India have participated.

Overall participation this year has gone up by 57 per cent. Out of the 147 participants, 30 are in 4-wheeler Extreme and 94 in 4-Wheeler Endurance categories. Twenty three  riders, including five on scooters, are participating in the 'Extreme' Bikes category. Each participant will cover between 300 to 600 km per day. Among the participants this year will be five teams from Maruti Suzuki.

In its fifth year, Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare has established itself in South India. We are seeing increased participation year after year, with 'The Dare' becoming larger, more competitive and exciting. During these motoring events, extensive feedback is obtained on the performance of Maruti cars in extreme conditions – on road and off-road," said Manohar Bhat, V-P marketing, Maruti Suzuki India.
