Mahindra XUV700 is the Indian Car of the Year for 2022

The Mahindra XUV700 has been crowned the Indian Car of the Year 2022. As for the other categories, the Audi e-tron SUV is the Green Car of the Year by ICOTY for 2022. This is the second iteration of this new award that acknowledges the current shift to this new technology. Covering the more premium end of the car market, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has won the Premium Car of the Year by ICOTY award for 2022.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class was a clear favourite among the jury for the premium car award scoring 153 pointed. In second place was another Mercedes, the AMG A 45 S hot hatch while the Volvo S60 rounded off the top three. In the EV category, the Audi e-tron SUV scored 104 points, followed more closely by the e-tron GT four-door coupe. The third spot went to the Jaguar I-Pace. In the main category, the XUV700 scored 101 points, the Volkswagen Taigun came second with 89 points and the Tata Punch was third with 71 points.

Each of the judges scored the contenders on 25 points. Judges were asked to rate at least five contenders and have picked a clear winner out of these. The process was conducted digitally and validated for confidentiality by an external agency. This panel of judges consists of experienced automotive journalists from the biggest publications in the country, which also includes OVERDRIVE as a founding member of ICOTY.
