Mahindra has pulled the wraps off the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV. Price announcements will be made in January 2023. With this Mahindra has made its debut in the Indian EV market space.

Mahindra XUV400: Design and Dimensions

The XUV400 has a 4,200 mm length, 1,821 mm width, and a 2,600 mm wheelbase.

The vehicle also features a 378-litre trunk. The XUV400 is based on the XUV300 in terms of design. It has a similar body structure, but the exterior has a few distinctive features. A blanked-off front grille is surrounded by LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. The XUV400's copper roof, accents, and twin peaks emblem are all distinctive features.

Mahindra XUV400: Battery

The 39.5 kWh battery pack that powers the all-electric SUV is said to have a maximum range of 456 km (MIDC) on a single charge. A DC fast charger can charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in 50 minutes.

A 149PS and 310 Nm electric motor powers the XUV400. There are three driving modes available, each having steering, throttle responsiveness, and regeneration adjustments. According to Mahindra, its acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph takes 8.3 seconds.

Mahindra XUV400: Interiors and Safety

An electric sunroof, a 7-inch touchscreen with 60+ connected car functions, and dual-zone climate control are among its highlights. The XUV400 EV is equipped with several active safety measures in addition to six airbags, a rear parking camera, electronic stability control (ESC), cornering brake control, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and numerous other safety-related features.

Although the Mahindra XUV400 EV is based on the XUV300, it employs a frame that has been modified for electric vehicles and is made of high-strength steel in 45 percent of its construction. It has frequency-dependent suspension dampening, like the Scorpio N, for a better riding experience.

The Mahindra XUV400 once launched will directly compete against the Tata Nexon EV but will also go up against the likes of the MG ZS EV Hyundai Kona.
